Today About An Acre Farms and Falling Creek Farms held a "Farm Feast" out at the 900 acre grass-fed and green grain fed cattle ranch in Stephens, GA. Farmer Emmet was an excellent host and the gathering was quite a success in networking, meeting fellow farmers, and introducing family and friends to some of their local options for local food.
The children had a blast listening to Farmer Emmet do a cattle call. It was neat to see the cows actually responding to him calling them!
I bet that doesn't happen on your average cattle ranch - these cows know they are well taken care of! It was absolutely gorgeous out there and refreshing to see how much lush green land they had free range of.
The grown-ups seemed to be having a great time as well asking Emmet, Jason, and myself questions about growing and farming.
We can't wait to rotate to different farms and stimulate interest in local sustainable food! Expect more cookouts, shindigs, and farm feasts (or linners as Emmet calls them) throughout the spring and summer months!
I have to admit I was a bit of a ham out there in the green acres of the farm - but I just couldn't resist!!
