Date night.....

Dinner.......
...snacks...
...and a movie! We watched 'Nebraska' and I didn't know much about this film going into it aside that it was up for a few Oscars. It was all in black and white, and the story itself pulled on so many of my heart strings. It took me back to when I didn't want to see my own grandpa in a 'home', and at the time, I was able to care for him. The moments of confusion which are then turned into moments of tremendous pride hit home for me. It is evident that Woody (played by Bruce Dern) is having some beginning signs of dememtia. Will Forte's character, David, embarks on a whimsical fantasy road trip with his dad and  is able to see that the meaning of life - even one where life can seem dark, depressing, and not going anywhere, can potentially be a beautiful and meaningful experience. Forte was unexpectedly great in this very serious role and his character works so hard to have a (possibly last) meaningful connection with his dad. He learns that the dad that he grew up 'knowing', is actually more demensional than he ever knew - Woody is a man of very few words. He learns a lot about his past through old friends, business partners, and an old flame in his old hometown. I don't really want to give too much about the story away, but this is a must-see!
