She gave her a good lookover, read through her blood tests, did a cranial nerve test, all kinds of little tests and concluded that she was showing all the symptoms of having had a stroke. These seizures were a side effect of the stroke and that within a week she thought they would subside. I expressed my concern that she was unable to get any rest due to having these dang things every time she attempted to nap or sleep. The vet gave Baby a prescription for Valium in hopes that it would relax everything enough for her to be able to catch some Zzzs and maybe decrease the amount of seizures so that Baby could start healing.
I took her home, gave her the Valium, and after one night of solid sleep, I was excited and hopeful. She was just coming off the first dose and so I thought it was the perfect time to let her go poo and pee. Then out of nowhere this skunk comes right up to her and sprays her in the face! It was a little skunk too! But I honestly just saw this skunk get really close to Baby and hadn't smelled anything.....until..... I had her in the house. IT. WAS. THE WORST SMELL I HAVE EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER SMELLED....and it was in our house. And I was FREAKING out. I grew up in the country and we smelled skunk smell all the time, but to smell pure skunk spray fresh from the skunk is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. Well, actually I might wish it on my worst enemy, but they would have to have crossed me big time. I mean this was BAD. I freaked out so bad, Christian had to bathe Baby the first ten times, and for a good solid 24 hours, we were Google-ing every possible way to get the skunk funk out of our house! White distilled vinegar, baking soda, candles, cinnamon on a baking sheet in the oven - thank goodness we have an attic fan and could air out the house pretty good! The smell was much better tonight and Baby has not had a seizure in over 48 hours!! Here are some snapshots from the last few days.....
While Baby is so bored and restless being doped up, I decided to drive her around a bit - it is much safer that her stumbling and possible getting hurt. We took a little tour of downtown Winterville and checked out the community garden. Isn't it beautiful??
She got to visit with the chickens and goats.....
...a little doped up, but functional enough to walk around the pasture....
Ellen and the crew were glad to see her...
They've been cleaning up the garden for me since I have moved to the new house....
Spirulina stays pretty close to Baby. She has really grown attached to her and meows like crazy if she is not in sight!
Comfort food for our souls..... it was a rough weekend... these did help though!
