Yay! It is Friday (finally), and I woke up to a few emails that inspired this post... A few of my favorite shelter pups didn't make it, and passed over the rainbow bridge last year, and I woke up to an email where donations were made in their memory.....
WagWorthy Naturals is a canine well-being/ supplement company that follows a lot of the pups I post on my Instagram. I actually have been giving the supplement to Eddie for several months now, and recently wrote a post about how they have helped him HERE. They also are very active in spay/ neuter programs as well as being advocates for needy shelter dogs nationwide. They fell in love with Charity and her story. When she was nearing the end of her welcome at animal control (150+ days), they pushed for her, shared her story, and even sent her a goody box that went with her when she got adopted after spending waaaaaaay too long at the shelter. She may have even been the longest ACCAC resident of 2018.......
They also fell in love with Big Man. Followed his amazing story of finally hitting the jackpot, living THE LIFE he was meant to live, only his was cut short, but anyone who followed Big Man's "after adoption" updates, knows those last weeks made up for his whole life before of being tethered, disregarded, and eventually thrown away because his head wasn't big enough....
Then there was Spock. Spock was so near and dear to me, and if his name is brought up, I STILL get sad and emotional that he couldn't be saved. He was an absolute beautiful shining light, with his silver muzzle, amber eyes, and unique smile.... He was labeled "iffy" around other dogs, specifically males - and and more-so, un-neutered males.... I had seen it with my own eyes, but on THE DAY he was euthanized, he put on a show for me with another male dog at the fence, as if he was saying "I can make it work!" Playing and running, nothing scary AT ALL, just a playful encounter with a newcomer at the shelter - and of all things, and un-neutered MALE. He was euthanized a few hours later, even after I shared this new development (and video) with the staff there. There was nothing I could do to save him...... I continue to be heartbroken that there was zero that could be done to save him. He deserved better, but I know he knew how much volunteers (and even the inmates) fought for him, and that we all have just one more little angel watching out for us...
Well, to the point..... I woke up to a few emails that made my heart happy. WagWorthy Naturals made donations to Espanola Humane in memory of the dogs that crossed over the rainbow bridge last year and imprinted on their hearts. Athens' own Big Man & Spock were two of the dogs....
Thank you for doing what you do and remembering the ones we loved, WagWorthy! Follow them on Instagram HERE!
Happy Friday, Y'all!
xoxo
